Roadmap to the Future

What would success look like?  If the Kingdom of God advances in this region, we should see positive transformation on all levels.  It would look like these types of things:

Rising church attendance, lower crime rates, and the number of disciplined followers of Christ increasing...  Reduction of the use of illegal drugs and lower divorce rates...  More families living at peace with each other...  Children adequately prepared so that they will be able to overcome challenges to their faith in college and beyond...

An increase in compassionate ministries...  Help and support for those with financial difficulties, health challenges and emotional difficulties.

Earthen Vessels.  Is the church an organism or an organization?

Let's look at our bodies.  They grow old and they don't go to heaven.  But, taking care of them is important.

Similarly, the organization of the church grows old and won't go to heaven.  No one expects to see the First Baptist Church building transported to heaven and placed on the corner of Gold and Diamond Street!  Our organizations will be left behind.  These are some elements of our organizations:  how and when we meet, the expectations we have of those who serve, physical facilities, planning and communication.

So, regarding the question:  Organism or Organization?  The answer is the church has aspects of BOTH.   The organism is the life part; it will be hindered if our organization is poor.   On the other hand, the best organization will not succeed if there is no life (organism).

In doing NEW things throughout the region, we will need new ways to organize to help us do the work of the Kingdom.  Just as it is important to take care of bodies that will not follow us into heaven, it is important that we spend the time and effort to learn how to manage our organizations with excellence!

Good News!   As God impacts this region through us there will be many Good News stories.   Did you know that there is no word for "Thank You" in the Hebrew language?  If they didn't say "Thank You," how did the Hebrews thank one another?   They told the story about the good things that the other person did.   Similarly, telling about the good things God does is an important way to thank and honor Him.   As part of the overall effort, we want to dedicate time and effort to telling and retelling these Good News stories!
